Víctor Valdés’s agent has ruled out a switch to the Turkish side Antalyaspor due to the goalkeeper’s wish to remain at Manchester United.
The Turkish media reported comments by the Antalyaspor president Gultekin Gencer in which he claimed that Valdés was keen to move to his club this summer.
Valdés recovered from a serious knee injury to make two Premier League appearances last season as he remained behind David de Gea in the Old Trafford pecking order. Should De Gea leave for Real Madrid he may get the first-team job permanently.
“Some people from Turkey called me to negotiate Víctor’s signing,” Valdés’s agent Ginés Carvajal told as.com. “But I’ve never spoken to the president of that Turkish club.
“Hence, I’m not going to discuss the comments he made regarding Víctor. I don’t know him.
“We have no intention of speaking to them again because the player does not want to go to Antalyaspor. His wish is to continue to play for Manchester United.
“He has one year left on his contract with the club. We don’t see any just reason to leave the club. United is one of the best three or four clubs in the world.
“Víctor is enthusiastic to have a place in the team for next season and is ready to give his best to help the team much more.”
The 33-year-old Valdés signed for Manchester United in January, six months after leaving Barcelona following 12 years with the first team.
The newly promoted Turkish Super League club Antalyaspor recently acquired the Cameroon forward Samuel Eto’o and are keen to make other big-name signings this summer.
